Gus Atri is a chemist by training. After working in Humberside County Analyst Laboratory as a Senior Chemist for nearly 10 years, he joined northern Foods in 1986 and have held a number of roles in the Group Technical Services and currently employed as Environmental Affairs Controller. His role is to help develop a range of environmental policies for Northern Foods.
He is currently chairman of DEFRA Food Industry Sustainability Strategy Waste Champions Group and the past chairman of the UK Food and Drink Federation Waste Topic Group. He was also a member of a group that developed East Midlands Regional Waste Strategy and chaired Nottingham Energy Partnership Business Task Group charged to develop means of reducing carbon emissions in the city of Nottingham.

Bill Bartlett

Bill Bartlett was appointed McCain Corporate Affairs Director in July 2006. As part of his role Bartlett heads up the McCain Corporate Social Responsibility programme, and is responsible for co-ordinating the company’s progressive journey towards an ever more sustainable business model. The CSR programme examines the businesses relationship and impact on the environment, marketplace, workplace and the community.
Prior to this Corporate Affairs role, Bartlett was sales director of McCain Food Service for seven years and has been with the company for 19 years. Bartlett joined in 1989 as a territory manager and looked after a region in the Midlands. Bartlett soon progressed to regional manager and national account manager and in 1996 was seconded to central Europe. Bartlett returned in 1998 to run the sales function in Food Service before taking up his current role.
During his time at McCain, Bartlett has embraced the need to change and adapt quickly and bring innovative solutions to its business processes.

Robert Broughton

Robert Broughton has a degree in Chemistry from Cambridge University and started work in the flexible packaging industry in 1976 for Mardon Flexible Packaging at Midsomer Norton, near Bath. Although there have been many changes of company name (Alcan Packaging as at 9 April 2009) and the closure of the Midsomer Norton factory, he has completed over 32 years of continuous service. The majority of his roles have been in the technical area.
His current job title is Food Contact Manager - Europe but he also maintains a role within Alcan Packaging as a sustainability expert. Although nominally shown as working for the Cumbria plant, this is for functional reasons.
He chairs the Technical Committee of the UK Packaging and Films Association (formerly the Flexible Packaging Association) and a sub-committee on ease of opening of packaging for British Standards Institute. He represents Alcan Packaging on the Flexible Packaging Europe Technical Committee.

Dave’s principal responsibilities encompass Kimberly-Clark’s European activity in responsible sourcing, carbon management, forestry, stakeholder dialogue and overall environmental sustainability. He has been at K-C for five years and holds an MA in Biological Sciences from Oxford University.

Liz Cross

Liz joined BT in 1980, working in different procurement roles including strategic sourcing, marketing communications, IT and global networks.
More recently Liz is responsible for sustainability in procurement across BT, working with global buying teams and Corporate Social Responsibility specialists. She leads on procurement strategy and policy on labour standards, climate change, environmental management and supplier diversity.
Liz worked on the Government Task Force on Sustainable Procurement, representing BT on the Suppliers Working Group.
She also represents BT on the Global e Sustainability Initiative - Supply Chain working group who developed the e-TASC supplier assessment system.
Liz represents BT on the Minority Supplier Development UK Board.
Liz has a degree in chemistry and is a member of CIPS the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.

Anabel Drese

Anabel is Corporate Social Responsibility European Manager and she is responsible for partnering with the business units to build and develop the European Social Enterprise strategy inclusive of ethic of service, environmental vision, corporate values and values communication efforts. In collaboration with Marketing, provides effective direction of senior management via editorial opportunities and civic engagement activities as a means to progress European’s Social Enterprise agenda. She also audits factories in Europe to ensure they comply with Timberland’s Code of Conduct.
Prior to this role, Anabel was Finance Controller of Timberland Spain for 8 years. Before joining Timberland she spent 3 years in Mexico in a Spanish chemistry company after finishing her degree in Economics and a master in International Cooperation.
Anabel lives in Barcelona, Spain where she spends much of her time volunteering in the local community.

Ben Earl is Social Responsibility Advisor on Climate Change for B&Q Plc, the UK’s leading home improvement retailer. B&Q is effectively delivering on an ambitious Sustainability Action Plan in partnership with NGO partner BioRegional. In addition to supporting the energy and transport streams of this programme, Ben also has the supply chain and product development in his remit which has a crucial part to play in helping reduce the environmental impact of the business and has the ultimate goal of helping each customer realise a ‘One Planet Home’.
Ben graduated from the University of Northumbria with a BSc in Environmental Studies. After working for a number of MPs, Ben joined the Woodland Trust where he delivered a number of high profile corporate and third sector partnerships, later becoming Director of Fundraising, Events & Communications at Oxfordshire based Northmoor Trust. Ben has recently stepped down as a Trustee to the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC UK) after three years in the role.

Benjamin joined Johnson & Johnson in 2005. With over 11 years experience of working on EU legislative and policy fields Benjamin is based in J&J s Brussels office. He is the European Government Affairs & Policy lead supporting the J&J Consumer Group of Companies in Europe, in particular the organisation's sustainability programmes. He also supports the corporation on crosscutting areas such as tax, intellectual property, trade, production, distribution, R&D and other environmental issues.
Prior to Johnson & Johnson Benjamin worked with GlaxoSmithKline where he was responsible for advancing R&D advocacy issues before the EU Institutions, as well as working in the key industry association bodies. In addition, he was responsible for government affairs for their business in Central, Southern and Eastern Europe.
Benjamin holds a BSc and MSc in biology and biotechnology from Southampton University and Imperial College, London, respectively. He has held roles in the UK government s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and with the Brussels-based consulting offices of the Weinberg Group and Ernst & Young.

Vidyanath Gururajan

Vidyanath Gururajan is Group Head Development and Projects at Branston Ltd, the UK’s leading supplier of fresh potatoes. Branston is committed to minimizing its impacts on the environment wherever possible and in particular to reducing its carbon footprint year-on-year. Gururajan chairs the company’s group environmental forum; ensuring the continued monitoring of carbon measurement resulting from Branston's activities, identifying carbon-producing hot-spots and developing and implementing carbon reduction plans. He was also instrumental in delivering the carbon footprint labelling programme for Tesco.
Gururajan is responsible for the co-ordination of operational capital projects as well as developing innovative best practice across all areas of Branston's operations. He joined the company in August 2005, having previously worked as a Technology Engineer at LG Phillips.
Educated in both Britain and India, Gururajan has an MSc in Engineering Management from the University of Sunderland and a first-class degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Madras. He is also a fully qualified Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

Jim Hanna

Jim Hanna joined Starbucks Coffee Company in November 2005, lending his expertise to the company’s initiatives to minimize its environmental footprint through green building, energy conservation, international procurement, waste minimization and collaboration with partner corporations and NGOs. Prior to Starbucks, he served as Director of Environmental Affairs for Xanterra Parks & Resorts at Yellowstone National Park. In the position, Jim oversaw Xanterra’s many progressive environmental initiatives in its operations as the primary concessionaire in the park, including an ISO 14001-certified Environmental Management System. Before escaping to Yellowstone, he worked as Director of Operations for Teris Environmental in Los Angeles, managing the company’s seven regional offices in North America. A native of Olympia, Washington, Jim earned a BS in Environmental Sciences from Washington State University and is a U.S. Green Building Council LEED-accredited professional.

Andrew Jenkins

After graduating in Environmental Science in 1977, Andrew has worked in product and packaging design management and development for several major manufacturing and retailing organisations including the Storehouse Group. He joined The Boots Group plc. in 1994. As a member of the Quality & CSR Support team Andrew's role is to advise product marketing and development groups on sustainable development issues. His work includes advising the development of the company Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy and the introduction of compliance systems and sustainable product design strategies covering the wide portfolio of Boots products. Andrew represents the company on several trade association committees and was Boots representative in the development of the Sigma guidelines for integrating sustainable development into business. This has now continued with work on the EU Roundtable on Sustainable Development standards and representation on the Bsi committee responsible for BS8900 Guidance for Managing Sustainable Development. His work also includes developing external partnerships in the area of sustainable development with trade associations, academic institutions and organisations such as Forum for the Future.

Sujata Lamba is the Senior Manager and Head of the Global Linkages Unit of the Corporate Advice Department since August 2004. The Linkage practice works with large corporates to build local supply chains and integrate communities through employment generation. Currently, IFC has over 60 Linkages projects corresponding to $2.4 billion of investments. From year 2001 to 2004, Mrs. Lamba was the Regional Manager, Investments – Corporate Sector in IFC for the Southern Europe & Central Asia region based in Istanbul, covering Turkey, Romania, Azerbaijan and Bulgaria. Prior to that, Sujata was Divisional Manager for Southern Europe Region covering eight countries, including the Balkans. Mrs. Lamba has over 25 years of work experience, of which 20 years has been with IFC in international project finance in Eastern Europe, East Asia, and Latin America covering the Chemical, Petrochemical, General Manufacturing and Corporate sectors. Prior to IFC, Mrs. Lamba worked with international commercial banks including Bank of America and Grindlays Bank, Ltd. Mrs. Lamba has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics Honors and a Masters in Business Administration (Finance).

Julien Picaud is Product Manager at Enablon, one of the world’s leading providers of corporate responsibility and QEHS management software solutions. He is part of the QHSE Product Management Department and is in charge of developing Greenhouse Gas Emissions Management Systems.
Prior to Enablon, Julien gained extensive knowledge of sustainability and environmental challenges while working as an Environmental Consultant for a large Management Consultancy. Building on this experience, he co-founded an online platform aiming to collect private funds to finance selected forestry projects in Africa.
Educated in France and in the UK, he holds an MSc in Environmental Management from Salford University and a Masters in European Business from the Paris Business School.

The Supply Chain Development (SCD) team is responsible for delivering innovative solutions to Maersk Logistics customers and has included Green Logistics analysis and strategic recommendations to its portfolio through the Supply Chain Carbon Check™ methodology. This methodology identifies the current carbon footprint and suggests means to reduce it through network re-design and optimisation; this approach has been further enhanced to provide dash board reporting.
Peter has worked with Maersk Logistics in a variety of roles from business systems, through operations to Account Director before taking up his current role responsible for SCD.

Dr Paul Pritchard

Dr Paul Pritchard heads up the corporate responsibility function in the UK for insurance company RSA, with a brief ranging from carbon neutrality and other internal impacts through to community affairs and new product development. He is an environmental risk specialist who is a registered Principal Environmental Auditor, Chartered Environmentalist and a Chartered Chemist. He studied chemistry and the environment followed by research into the behaviour of heavy metal contamination in the River Tyne. He initially worked at DTI looking at contaminated land and water followed by a range of roles in environmental consultancy before joining RSA as an environmental specialist in 1997.

Dr. rer. nat. Frank Roland Schröder received his diploma in Chemistry from the University of Göttingen, Germany. Following his PhD thesis in biochemistry at the Max-Planck-Institute for Experimental Medicine, he joined Henkel in 1985. Until 1991 he specialised in biotechnology and quality assurance/GLP in both the Henkel Düsseldorf research centre and the Lion Corporation in Odawara, Japan. Subsequently he joined the department of Ecology, specialising in environmental exposure analysis, and environmental modelling and monitoring of environmentally relevant substances. Currently he is global director and head of the sustainability/ product safety department of the laundry and home care business unit of Henkel AG & Co. KGaA.

Pauline is Water Resources Government and Industry Liaison Manager for the Environment Agency. She is responsible for external links on water resources work with a range of government departments, other regulators and abstractors.
She has worked for the Environment Agency and its predecessors for the last 20 years in a range of water management roles. Her experiences include managing droughts, auditing water company plans and issuing abstraction licences.
With a degree in Environmental Science from the University of East Anglia, she has always had a keen interest in climate change science. Much of her career in water has been based in the East of England, our driest region and one with many competing interests for scarce water. Managing demands for water sustainably and making the links with energy and carbon efficiency are at the core of her role.

John’s career in engineering, strategic development and business change has been in several industry sectors and countries – ranging from steel and oil production to manufacturing and consultancy. He has worked in Australia, the Middle East and Europe. One common denominator in his work has always been the reduction of excessive consumption and the minimisation of waste. At Morphy Richards, John has now added the ‘advancement of sustainability’.
